Fotek's monopolar electrosurgical instruments are designed for broadband radio wave and argon amplified devices. With monopolar exposure, the high-frequency current from the active electrode spreads through the patient's body and enters the passive electrode. The active electrode has a small working surface area and therefore the high-frequency current directly at this electrode has the highest density, causing heating of the fabric. Monopolar exposure is used both for coagulation and for dissection of tissues.
